Export permits issued for 6 lt sugar

New Delhi, Jan. 25: The Government has issued export permits for 592,036 tonnes sugar under the open general licence so far in the current season that started October 1, the Directorate of Sugar said. Around 397 factories have so far got permits to export sugar. The Empowered Group of Ministers on Food had on November 22 allowed export of 1 million tones sugar in the new season. The last dates for seeking export permits are January 31 for sugar mills exporting on their own and February 15 for merchant exporters. The export permits have a validity for 60 days. Premium on export quota has fallen to around Rs.1,000 a tone from Rs.2,500 at the start of the season and Rs.2,500 at the start of the season and Rs.8,500 last season.
