Nov 23: India, the second-biggest sugar producer, may allow more exports by the end of next month as output exceeds demand for a second year, a mills` group said.
Producers expect the government to permit an additional 1 million tonne to be shipped, Vinay Kumar, managing director of National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories , said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
A panel of ministers on Tuesday approved overseas sales of 1 million tonne , food minister K V Thomas said in New Delhi.
Rising exports from India, where production is seen climbing to a four-year high, may add to the first global surplus in four years and ease global food costs.
Futures have slumped 35% since reaching a three decade high in February on expectations of increased production from Thailand, Russia and the European Union.
