Sugar stabilises on ample supplies

Sugar prices ruled stable at Vashi and upper mill level on eased physical demand amid ample supplies. Prices at Vashi dropped by ₹4-7 a quintal for S-grade as needy traders sold the commodity at discount, while M-grade remained unchanged. Naka and mill tender rates were steady. Sources said as local demand came down stockists stayed away from fresh bulk buys. Arrivals and local dispatches declined on eased demand amid enough stocks. Arrivals declined to 53-54 truck loads and local dispatches were about 50-52 loads. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,572-3,795 (3,576-3,802) and M-grade at ₹3,650-3,960 (3,650-3,960). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,550-3,620 (3,550-3,620) and M-grade ₹3,610-3,720 (3,610-3,720).
