The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be implemented by April 1, 2017, confirmed Hasmukh Adhia, revenue secretary, Government of India, in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
In the city to listen to concerns tabulated by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Adhia promised to pass on their concerns to the GST Council formed at the Centre.
“The software for implementation of the GST will be ready by January. It will be tested during the next couple of months and will be ready for use by April,” added Adhia.
Having received suggestions from trader associations from all over the state, the GCCI has compiled a list of 34 issues that require consideration for GST implementation.
