Prices of government and co-operative sugar mills softened by up to Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today, dragged down by increased supplies amid reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said ample stocks following increased supplies in the market mainly put pressure on the sweetener prices.

They said the government's decision to impose stock limits on mills last week too weighed on prices.

In the millgate section, sugar Baghpat and Morna both dropped by Rs 50 each to end at Rs 3,550 each per quintal.

Similarly ramala dipped by Rs 40 to Rs 3,540, while Nazibabad and Simbholi fell Rs 20 each to Rs 3,560 and Rs 3,590 per quintal.
