Festival demand sweetens sugar

MUMBAI, AUGUST 31:  

Sugar prices increased by Rs.3-5 a quintal for S-grade and up by Rs.7-8 for fine quality at Vashi on Wednesday due to festival demand. But, on the NCDEX, futures prices remained range-bound with thin volatility. Naka and mill tender rates were unchanged. Freight rates remained steady. Vashi market caries about 110-115 truck loads of stocks which kept stockists away from fresh buys. Arrivals increased to 59-60 truck loads and local dispatches were up at 61-62 loads. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates:S-grade Rs.3,602-3,735 (3,600-3,735) and M-grade Rs.3,690-3,852 (3,682-3,845).Naka delivery rates: S-grade Rs.3,600-3,640 (3,600-3,640) and M-grade Rs.3,650-3,720 (3,650-3,720).
