Sugar weakens on poor offtake

Prices of both varieties of sugar weakened at the Vashi wholesale market here today following lower demand from stockists and retailers. 

Small sugar prices edged down by Rs 2 per quintal to Rs 3,660/3,762 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,662/3,762.



Medium sugar prices declined by Rs 10/10 per quintal to Rs 3,726/3,872 as compared Rs 3,736/3,882 yesterday. Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets: 

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,660/3,762 (Rs 3,662/3,762). 

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,726/3,872 (Rs 3,736/3,882).
