Government allows 64,494 tonnes of sugar export to Maldives

              In a notification released on April 5, the Government has allowed the export of sugar and other essential commodities like- Eggs, Potatoes, Onions, Rice, Wheat Flour, Dal, Stone Aggregate and River Sand to Maldives during 2024-25 under the bilateral trade agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Maldives.

As per notification, government has allowed 64,494 tonnes of sugar.

The notification says that the export of the above items to Maldives will be exempted from any existing or future restriction/prohibition during 2024-25.

The Government has curbed the export of sugar to other countries in the current season on account of lower sugar production.
