Uttar Pradesh: The 2023-24 crushing season in Uttar Pradesh is in the final phase as sugar mills have started ending the operations.

According to the Sugarcane Department, sugarcane crushing in Uttar Pradesh is still underway in 91 sugar mills. So far, 8,746 lakh quintals of sugarcane have been crushed, resulting in the production of 917 lakh quintals (91.7 lakh tonnes) of sugar. 30 sugar mills have concluded their crushing operations.

The department asserts that the efficient management of the state’s sugar mills ensures uninterrupted sugarcane supply for farmers.

As per the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories Limited (NFCSF), an estimated 108 lakh tonnes of sugar production is expected in Uttar Pradesh for the 2023-24 season.
