Ahasanul Islam Titu, state minister for commerce, said this while talking to reporters at his village house in Delduar upazila in Tangail on Friday. The prices of all essential items will be brought under control in the country before the month of Ramadan, likely to begin from the second week of March based on moon sighting, he said. India has suspended the export of goods to Bangladesh for a long period but it will resume the export before Ramadan, Titu said, adding that the commerce ministry has already talked to its Indian counterpart to this end. The previous import duty will be reduced to facilitate the import of food products, said the state minister. Apart from this, the government is also engaged in hatching efforts to import sugar and other food items from different countries including Brazil, he said.
