In the current sugar season 2023-24, data from the sugar commissioner’s office shows that 202 mills are actively engaged in crushing sugarcane till January 15, 2024.

The cumulative gross payable Fair and Remunerative Price (Includes H&T) by sugar mills amounts to ₹13,642 crore.

Remarkably, the mills have disbursed ₹13,056 crores, covering 96 percent of the total payable FRP, leaving arrears at ₹586 crores. Data shows that 85 sugar mills have fulfilled 100 percent of the FRP obligations, while 50 mills have paid between 60 and 80 percent of the total FRP. However, 117 mills have not cleared 100 per cent cane dues .
