On Thursday, thousands of farmers supporting the outfit will march towards the national highway passing through the city.

The farmers plan to hold a chakka jam at the Shiroli bridge, which connects Kolhapur and Sangli districts with other major roads.

 

Raju Shetti, the president of the farmers’ outfit, said, “The report prepared by the panel led by Kolhapur district collector Rahul Rekhawar is unacceptable. He has been pressured by guardian minister Hasan Mushrif to write in the report that the sugar mills are not liable to pay anything. However, statistics and bank accounts of the mills paint a different picture altogether. The guardian minister has become the guardian of sugar mills of all political parties. Mushrif and Congress MLC Satej Patil are trying to break the resolve of the farmers, but we will not let it happen.”
