Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have cleared 100 per cent payment of the sugarcane farmers for the last cane crushing season 2019-20. The mills have paid Rs 35,899 crore to the farmers. Sugarcane Minister Suresh Rana said here on Tuesday that along with this, about 61 per cent of the cane price of the current crushing season 2020-21 has also been paid to the farmers. The minister also reviewed measures taken to protect cane farmers, departmental personnel and sugar mill workers from coronavirus infection and prevention of the spread. The cane crushing season is about to end in the state and 50 sugar mills are still operating. He said that detailed guidelines have been issued to all regional and district-level departmental officers and sugar mills for prevention of Covid-19 and for safe completion of crushing season 2020-21 and cane survey, satta demonstration, calendaring, slip issuance work etc.
