Chandigarh, October 28
The cooperative sugar mills of the state would begin the crushing season from November 10 in accordance with the availability of the labour workforce for the harvesting of sugarcane, said Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Monday.
The minister said directions had been issued to the general managers of the cooperative sugar mills to ensure the timely crushing of sugarcane and facilitate the cultivators.
The minister further added that directions had also been given with regard to making adequate arrangements for making payments by the cooperative mills to the cultivators within 72 hours during the crushing season 2019-20, besides going in for the online mode for carrying out the whole process concerning supply of sugarcane and with regard to the calendar.
Directions had also been given to provide all requisite facilities to the cane growers in the cane yard bringing their produce in the cooperative sugar mills.
