Refer to the article ‘Bittersweet harvest’ (InFocus, June 3), the estimate of sugar (35.5 million tonnes) expected to be produced in 2018-19 has been wrongly attributed to the Indian Sugar Mills Association. The association expects 33 million tonnes of production in the current season (October 2018-September 2019). Mills across the country produced 32.1 million tonnes of sugar between October 1, 2018, and April 30, 2019. The pace of production has slowed down in recent weeks.
