Chandigarh, Nov 24 (UNI) Keeping in view the excess of sugarcane production this year, all Cooperative Sugar Mills in Haryana had started the current crushing season earlier to facilitate the farmers.
As a result of this, 26.76 lakh quintal more sugarcane has so far been crushed during current crushing season as compared to last crushing season, which is equal to entire crushing season capacity of 1,600 Tonnes Cane Per Day (TCD) sugar mill, Minister of State for Cooperation Manish Kumar Grover said on Friday.
About 9,000 acres production of sugarcane has so far been crushed which would enable farmers to carryout wheat sowing on time. The crushing season of Haryana Cooperative Sugar Mills had started in the first week of November 2017, he said. He said that the Cooperative Sugar Mills has so far achieved average sugar recovery of 8.74 by crushing 29.05 lakh quintal sugarcane and produced 1.88 lakh quintal sugar, whereas during the corresponding period last year, average sugar recovery was 6.76 per cent and 0.07 lakh quintal sugar was produced by crushing 2.29 lakh quintal sugarcane.
The Minister said that of 29.05 lakh quintal sugarcane crushed by all Cooperative Sugar Mills in the state, 1.87 lakh quintal sugarcane was crushed by Panipat Sugar Mill, 6.20 lakh quintal by Rohtak, 2.83 lakh quintal by Karnal, 1.57 lakh quintal by Sonipat, 4.83 lakh quintal by Shahabad, 2.48 lakh quintal by Jind, 1.78 lakh quintal by Palwal, 3.30 lakh quintal by Meham, 3.05 lakh quintal by Kaithal and 1.14 lakh quintal by Gohana.
