Claiming the BJP government to be farmer- friendly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that closed sugar mills in eastern UP would be made operational so that people of the region could get employment at their doorstep.
Addressing election rallies in Basti and Deoria on Thursday, Yogi said that eastern UP had suffered because of apathy of previous governments.
“People voteds for the SP and the BSP but the government did not care for them. The sugar mills of the region were closed down forcing youth of the region to go to other cities eke out a living,” he said.
“This BJP government is farmers’ friend in the true sense. It waived off crop loan up to Rs 1 lakh giving a massive relief to marginal and small farmers. This was our promise to farmers during our poll campaign and we decided on it in our first cabinet meeting,” the Chief Minister said.
Yogi also talked about as how successfully the BJP government had operated wheat purchase centres and how farmers stood benefited from this.
“Paddy purchase centres have also got a good response. Ours is a government that introduced potato purchase policy and this has proved beneficial to potato growers,” he said.
Urging the people to vote for the BJP in the civic poll, Yogi said. “You have seen our performance of seven months. Now, Central funds will flow down to the ward level. We have governments at the Centre and at the state and if we have our Municipal Boards, the utlisation of money would be quick and transparent,” the CM said.
Yogi said that the government was alive to the problems of the people. “We know people are facing problem because of stray animals. Gaushala will be set up in 22 districts,” he promised.
Elaborating on the work of his government Yogi said that the law and order situation has improved in the state. “The criminals have either been killed or they have left UP. This is one of our achievements,” he said.
