MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 21:

Sugar prices ruled steady at Vashi market on routine demand-supply. But at mill level activities improved on higher demand from stockists for fine quality. After long gap sugar mills in Maharashtra witnessed sudden jump in volume on Wednesday evening by selling over 75,000 bags to local traders. However, prices at naka and mill level ruled unchanged.

A Vashi-based wholesaler said activities at mill level improved on higher demand for peak festival season ahead at steady prices but at Vashi in spot volume remained at par due to routine retail demand. Arrivals and local dispatches were affected due to rains. Arrivals and local dispatches were about 58-60 truck loads and inventory stocks at Vashi hover near steady at 105-110 loads.

On Wednesday evening, 15-16 mills offered tenders and sold about 78,000-80,000 bags at ₹3,550-3,610 (3,550-3,610) for S-grade and ₹3,630-3,710 (3,630-3710) for M-grade.

The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,696-3,760 (3,702-3,760) and M-grade ₹3,780-3,962 (3,780-3,960). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,650-3,740 (3,650-3,740) and M-grade ₹3,730-3,840 (3,730-3,840).
