New Delhi, January 16
Thousands of sugarcane growers of Haryana today gathered at Haryana Bhawan in Delhi and expressed their gratitude towards the Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, for increasing the sugarcane price by Rs 45 per quintal.
As mark of respect towards the Chief Minister, some farmers offered pagri (turban) and saropa while others handed bouquets to him.
“The Congress government in Haryana has increased the price of sugarcane by Rs 159 per quintal during the past seven years, whereas the increase during the six years of previous Chautala government was only Rs 7 per quintal,” Hooda said.
