DUES AGAINST CLOSED SUGAR MILLS

whether any assessment has been made with regard to losses being suffered by sugarcane growers due to long pending dues/outstanding amount against the closed sugar mills;
(b)
if so, the details and the outcome thereof;
(c)
whether the concerned State Governments have made any request for funds to revive the closed sugar mills and pay the dues/outstanding amount of the sugarcane farmers;
(d)
if so, the details thereof; and
(e)
the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a): No, Madam.
(b): Does not arise.
(c) to (e):The Central Government does not provide any funds for the revival of the closed sugar mills. It is the responsibility of the entrepreneur concerned to take the steps to re-open/revive the closed sugar mills as far as private sector is concerned and the State Governments/UTs concerned in the case of the public and cooperative sugar mills.
